It’s not always easy being Chris Brown

We all have problems, but not many of us are simultaneously revered and reviled. Such is the case with Chris Brown, whose very name upsets a lot of people, especially women and women's organizations. They still view him as something akin to "a whole new class of low." They remain unable, or unwilling, to forgive him for the horrendous 2009 incident, when he badly physically abused his girlfriend at the time, Rihanna. Those images were chilling and are firmly implanted in people's minds. It matters not that he paid the price, both legally — six months of community service and five years of probation — and in terms of a tarnished image; that he and Rihanna have reconciled; that he apologized to the public; and that the incident happened three years ago. He described himself as "arrogant and hot-headed" at that time and is striving to behave consistently in a more mature manner now, although recent incidents suggest he is not totally succeeding. Moreover, he realizes he could have "lost it all." Brown and Rihanna have worked together and been seen in public together, much to the dismay of many. SOME SAY if the hot-tempered Chris Brown did it…

Ryan Gosling may be taking a (we hope brief) hiatus from acting but while he's still making films he's doing plenty of good and not just for cinema sales or our viewing pleasure. The heartthrob's upcoming project How To Catch A Monster will help develop the film industry in Detroit. The star is playing an active part in Michigan's business future as he unveils the picture he's directing will be filmed in the state. And that's not all he will also provide plenty of jobs for locals including roles in front of the lens.Yahoo! Movies report around 100 people will be hired for the film with Ryan telling Deadline Detroit: 'We're definitely be casting locally.' And he's stayed true to his word as he's already on the hunt for a small child and is hosting open auditions in the city. Michael Jackson's kids have had little to no contact with their birth mother Debbie Rowe, ever since she signed away all custody rights after their divorce in 1999. However, the kids are getting older now and there have been reports that they are growing an "intense bond" with Rowe.Entertainment Tonight reported that Paris Jackson and her mother reunited for her birthday at Ahi Sushi in Studio City, Calif. on April 3.According to Rowe, she and Paris celebrated 15 candles with a day of shopping and quality mother-daughter time. Although the late King of Pop preferred to be a single parent, his family seems to have no problem with the children building a relationship with their mother. In a recent interview with TMZ, Jermaine Jackson said he thinks "it's great." "I think that's wonderful. The kids need their mom. I think it's great. That's their mother. That's wonderful. That's a good thing," he said.Michael Jackson, who passed away in June of 2009, married Rowe in 1996. The couple had two children together, Paris and 16-year-old Prince Michael Jackson Jr. We don't know if Debbie has also reestablished a relationship with Prince, but we hope she decides to stay around more.  …

No longer Snoop D-O-Double G, Snoop Lion is gearing up to release his twelfth studio album in May entitled “Reincarnated”. In case you missed it, after a “pilgrimage” to Jamaica, Snoop found spiritual enlightenment, converted to Rastafarianism and changed his name to Snoop Lion. His new, reggae sound is all about peace and love, not smoking and women. Fans can look forward to tracks featuring Chris Brown, Drake and Rita Ora. In an interview with Q Magazine, Snoop explains his transformation, acknowledging that his music has an effect on people especially young people. He says it was time for him to grow up. When you reach the pinnacle, you finally wake up, put aside childish ways and want to do something positive. You can affect people. You have kids and you understand what life is about. At 40 most men decide to live wild and crazy because they’ve been so conservative all along. Me, I’ve been living wild my whole life!   [The songs on my new album] will cross me over to a real musical icon. It’s real important to me. You don’t do it for the accolades but when you’ve been in it for so long and…
“Brown Skin” singer India Arie says that she did not bleach her skin despite appearing shades lighter on the cover her new single "Cocoa Butter". The R&B, soul singer has been a strong advocate for black beauty and loving natural skin and hair, however fans were outraged when she appeared visibly lighter on the cover than she had been previously. TMZ reported that rumors spread that she had bleached her skin.  If you recall, Arie was very vocal in her opposition to Zoe Saldana playing the legendary Nina Simone in the upcoming biopic, and was upset by images of Saldana with the darker skin and afro that is clearly not her own. On her website, Arie wrote: "Yes there should be a movie made, and YES they should have chosen someone who LOOKS like Nina Simone, ESPECIALLY since her RACE played such a PIVOTAL role in WHO, WHAT and WHY, she was." Her strong objections make the cover of “Cocoa Butter” is all the more confusing. Arie responded today via Twitter, dispelling rumors that she had bleached her skin. Instead she sites lighting and the camera angle for the difference in color. She said: Love to all #SoulBirdsWorldWide are you…

Just days after confessing to the world why she loves being a Black trophy wife, Porsha Stewart's husband Kordell Stewart hit her with divorce papers. Clearly Porsha didn't see the D-word coming, but her Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star NeNe Leakes said she noticed something off about the Stewart's relationship from day one. "I am a good judge of character," Nene tweeted, perhaps referencing her observations that Kordell was too controlling. She added, "I will stand by & support my little sister @PorshaDStewart." Fellow Housewives star, Kenya Moore, also weighed in on the break-up news. Although the two have had a shaky relationship on the show, Kenya said she hopes Porsha and Kordell can work it out. "It's no secret that Porsha and I have had our differences," she said to E! News. "However, I would never want to see anyone go through pain or suffering such as in a divorce. I'm a hopeless romantic and believe in love and hope they can get past their differences. I do wish Porsha well and know she will do what is best for her." According to TMZ, Porsha said she's "disappointed about her husband's recent filing for divorce" and that she found…
