Like everyone else, we've been eagerly anticipating People's 2012 Sexiest Man Alive issue. (This year's pick was "charming, chiseled" Channing Tatum, in case you weren't aware.) And it looks as if Jordin Sparks was excited to get her hands on the magazine. But of course, the 22-year-old "American Idol" winner had an added reason to celebrate. Her boyfriend, Jason Derulo, served as host for People's launch party for the issue at New York City's Dream Downtown hotel. Why did Derulo have the honor of emceeing the event? The pop star was one of 2011's Sexiest Men Alive, of course.   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/15/jordin-sparks-jason-derulo-people-sexiest-man-alive_n_2138284.html?utm_hp_ref=hair-beauty

So, this is totally based off of popularity I guess. I mean, to each their own. Get your money, honey. All I'm saying is, I will never watch [your] shows again." - T-Boz  Watch Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins opens up on Nicki Minaj's latest gig as an "American Idol" judge. India Arie On Nina Biopic

India Arie is not happy with images of actress Zoe Saldana filming scenes for an upcoming Nina Simone biopic. Taking to the net recently, Arie likened Saldana's make up and prosthetic nose to someone portraying Simone in black-face. "I saw the images of Zoe Saldana as Nina Simone... and I think they are ridiculous! Yes there should be a movie made, and yes they should have chosen someone who LOOKS like Nina Simone, especially since her race played such a pivotal role in who, what and why, she was," said Arie. "That aside for a second, this just looks WEIRD, it looks like a person in Black(er) face with a fake nose... REALLY?!!!! Does not the one Nina Simone's legacy deserve better than this?" Saddened, Arie says these images are "out of place" with what should be accurate from a historical standpoint. "But these images... just make me feel... SAD. Not because I want to play Nina Simone but because it feels out of place with what Nina Simone means in an African American historical context!!!!" says Arie. As widely reported, the forthcoming film has drawn much controversy and backlash, not only for the make up and prosthetic nose, but…

Usher Evicts Tameka from Georgia Home

As the old adage goes, "all good things must come to an end." And for Usher's ex-wife, Tameka Raymond, her extended stay at the singer's house appears to be officially up following a 60-day notice. According to TMZ, the chart-topping crooner listed the 12,544 square-foot Georgia mansion on the market last week for $3.2 million, which he originally purchased in 2007 for $3 million. As previously reported, Raymond was granted permission to live in the home as part of the former couple's 2009 divorce settlement, which also allowed for the "Climax" singer to put the suburban home on the market at anytime--as long as he gave his 41-year-old ex-wife 60 days notice. While she dismisses that, saying she "doesn't need any handouts," the former stylist responded to Usher's claims of her being a "gold-digger" during a September interview of Entertainment Tonight. "[This] is the typical stereotype," she said. "If a woman who has lesser means -- even if she is successful and hard-working, does her thing in her own right -- marries someone, what they'll call 'marrying up,' who has more money, they're automatically a gold digger."   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/12/usher-evicts-ex-wife-tameka-raymond-georgia-home_n_2117893.html?utm_hp_ref=bv-pop-culture

Common on Chicago Violence

The rampant violence plaguing parts of the city of Chicago is a widely discussed topic (well, among Blacks...no thanks to the mainstream news outlets), so naturally, when speaking to Chi-Town's own Common, EBONY.com wanted to know what the rapper made of the more than 400 homicides that have taken place in his hometown this year. EBONY: Speaking of setting an example, part of your role in the film is to be a positive role model to your nephew and leave your troubled past behind. As a native of Chicago, how do you feel about the gang violence occurring there? What message would you like to send to the people living through this? COMMON: First of all, I feel hurt by it. I feel saddened by what's going on, very concerned, and like I have to have a responsibility in it. What I would say to young people is that you have a whole world out there to do something great in, no matter what circumstance you were born in or around. You can accomplish anything you dream of, and, the things you want for your life; happiness, success, love — all those things to grow as a human being. To…

TLC On New Album & Biopic

TLC Planning 1st Album In 10 Years, Casting For VH1 Biopic Ten must be the lucky number for TLC, who has been one of R&B's most successful group of the 90's. After dealing with the death of member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, financial and health problems, they are back in the studio recording new music. The two ladies told media at the 2012 MOBO Awards in the UK that they will be working on a biopic and a new, hot album. They will be auditioning actors for their biopic, which will air on VH1. "We're going to still sound like TLC, evolving to whatever level we need to be at this time," T-Boz told the BBC about the upcoming project. "We've always grown throughout the years and have always had our own sound. That's what works for us and we don't have to worry about anybody else. She adds: "When that stops working, maybe we'll hang up the towel, but that still works. We have to get into the studio and start feeling how we feel. You have to find yourself first and then you find the path and then you have an album before you know it." A little…

CeeLo's Sex Scandal Woes

Will Cee Lo's voluntary break from judging The Voice become involuntarily? As previously reported, an unidentified woman has accused the multi-faceted entertainer of drugging her and having sex with her afterwards. Cee Lo has denied the charges of sexual assault, but the allegation alone brings unwanted controversy to the family-friendly show. According to Cinema Blend: Consequently, producers of The Voice are stuck in some kind of strange limbo. If the allegations ultimately prove true, Cee Lo's tenure on the show won't exactly be the most wholesome publicity of all-time. If the allegations prove untrue, however, Cee Lo is the real victim. You'd like to think producers would let this play out. You'd like to think they'd wait for the justice system to prove the singer's guilt or innocence. Cee Lo has already announced he's taking a season off to work on some side projects when this run is over, but given network executives are often pathologically afraid of causing real controversy, it wouldn't be a shock if he didn't finish out the season. http://theurbandaily.com/1974942/could-cee-los-scandal-cause-him-to-lose-his-spot-on-the-voice/

Isis Does Fashion Design

Photo Credit: Isis King for American Apparel Isis King popped onto our radar as a the first transgender contestant on "America's Next Top Model," competing in both cycles 11 and 17 and even had Banks' help paying for her sex reassignment surgery in 2009. She graduated to walking in small fashion shows and posing for American Apparel's most recent "Legalize Gay" ad campaign, but has now announced an ever bigger fashion gig: her very own line! "Now I'm just really wanting the world to see my first talent," King told OUT magazine, which named her to its OUT100 List for 2012. King is designing her own collection, although she'd rather not call it that: "I don't want to push myself and say I'm showing a 'collection' and get so nervous about it. I think I'll say I'm showing a 'presentation,'" she joked to the mag. Presentation, collection, whatever you want to call it -- we're excited. It's not very often we see a "Top Model" alum branch out into fashion design... nor is it very often we see a transgender individual making it big in the fashion world. We're totally psyched for both.   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/05/isis-king-transgender-model-fashion-design_n_2079230.html?utm_hp_ref=style&ir=Style#slide=more261335
